Usage Instructions & Precautions
- Strictly prohibited from contacting hydrofluoric acid (HF).
- Avoid sudden temperature changes (thermal shock). If drying in an oven, the maximum temperature must not exceed 400°C.
- For large blocks or crystalline samples, crush them externally first before placing them into the agate mortar for grinding.
- Do not grind materials that are excessively hard or have very coarse particles — this may scratch or damage the mortar surface.
- During grinding, place the mortar on a stable, non-slip surface and keep the pestle vertical.
- Large solids can only be crushed, not pounded with the pestle (to avoid damaging the mortar/pestle or causing spillover).
- For explosive or highly corrosive substances, cover the mortar surface with thick paper or plastic film, make a small hole in the center, insert the pestle, and grind carefully. Never fill more than 1/3 of the mortar’s capacity.
After use, clean with water. For stubborn residues, first wash with dilute hydrochloric acid, then rinse thoroughly with water. You may also add a small amount of table salt and grind lightly before final cleaning.
